Charles Harmon
Tree Lodi’s first Memorial Tree was planted at Lodi Lake in November, 2006 in memory of Charles Harmon, a founding member of the Tree Lodi Foundation.
Charles was born in Keokuk, Iowa in 1919 and passed away in September 2005. He was a 60 year resident of Lodi who came in 1948 o help set up the local General Mills facility. He retired from General Mills after 32 years as a refrigeration and maintenance engineer and took on a second career at the local Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store. He had served in the US. Navy in WWII.
Charles became involved in many community activities in Lodi, including President of the local branch of the Grain Millers Union and President of the General Mills Quarter Century Club. He was a 50 year member of the Lodi Masonic Lodge No. 256 and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lodi.
He enjoyed life as an avid golfer, traveler and collector of model cars.
